Tech gadgets are always nice.  And when they succeed in combining crisp design with clever energy saving, they’re even better.  The following two concepts are some great examples we recently stumbled upon (thanks to Link Drop Today).

The first one is a battery supported electric bike conceived by Yuji Fujimura. It has a docking station for your laptop, so while cycling you’re not only able to access and use the information stored on it, you will be charging it at the same time.

The second example may not be so spectacular, but is probably much more likely to actually go into production.  This power-saving device, designed by RISD student Conor Klein, physically disconnects electronic devices from the outlet once they’re fully charged.

Mimicking the behaviour of a leech that – once full of blood – will let go of its host, it’s a nifty way of stopping a cellphone to overcharge. It is also a great solution to reduce the waste of energy caused by those transformers that consume electricity, even when they’ve nothing to recharge.
