Stories about newspapers and magazines, struggling to survive the changes imposed by the new media, seem omnipresent lately. We thought it might be a good idea to highlight some fine examples of understanding how to deal with this competition and taking up the challenge.
First in line is the 24Hour Magazine : a concept to create a magazine from scratch to print in a single 24 hour period.

Not only did it stand out for completing the magazine in this well precised and awfully short time limit; it also fully embraced the possibilities offered by social media to share the whole experience. Prior to the event , they created a facebook group and twittered about the idea to gather a group of enthousiastic contributers. On the day itself, they constantly updated live video feeds on Vimeo, blog posts on their website, Twitter updates and a behind the scenes Flickr stream. The end result was 90 pages of fashion, design, music and lifestyle which could be viewed online, downloaded or ordered as a printed copy.
Offering readers not only a visualy exiting issue, but also an insight in the whole process is proof that magazines can still hold the future.
